In Greco-Roman times Paphos was the island’s capital, and visitors can still see the remains of the Roman governor’s palace with its extensive, fine mosaics. There are several myths and legends around Aphrodite’s Rock, including one which says that whoever swims around three times around the rock will gain ‘eternal beauty’!
